Girls Varsity Volleyball · RISE UP VOLLEYBALL

The Southlands Varsity Volleyball team started the San Joaquin League with a dominant win over the Saddleback Valley Christian Warriors, winning two sets to one.

Our Eagles came out with energy, ready to rise up and conquer their first league game. Setter Sabrina Lopez led her team, covering the floor and directing the offense like the absolute boss that she is, feeding the ball to kill-switch outside hitters Lauren Barragan and Shekinah Dominguez, who blasted ball after ball past the Warrior defenders.

Standout studs on defense were libero Emily Biltonen, defensive specialist Sam Gonzalez, and middle blocker Nadine Oronoz, who were all over the floor digging balls up and keeping our Eagles in the game. Ashleigh Alcaraz came in clutch in the third set with a massive stuff block that pumped up the Southlands players and fans to a whole new level.

With only a few points left in the fourth and final set, defensive specialist Sam Gonzalez hit the serving line and sent over three straight aces, closing the door on Saddleback and clinching the overall victory.

Our Southlands Varsity team improves their overall record to 14-6 and their league record to 1-0. Let’s go Eagles!!! #roadtostate #riseup
